What Kui Gang means
Kui Gang is read only from the day pillar: 戊戌, 壬辰, 庚戌 and 庚辰 are the Kui Gang days. Traditionally they mean a strong, sharp, decisive character with a drive to lead and the nerve to act.
Its force tends to extremes: in good times it can take charge and achieve a lot; in bad times life swings widely. Old texts say Kui Gang fears clashes and punishments, and a woman with a Kui Gang day is described as independent, unwilling to lean on anyone.
How to read it in a chart
- Day pillar
- Kui Gang is read mainly from the day pillar, the most direct link to one's character and marriage.
- With the rest of the chart
- read it together with the Ten Gods, the strength of the Five Phases and the structure, not on its own.
Traditional notes on Kui Gang
- The four Kui Gang days
- 戊戌, 壬辰, 庚戌 and 庚辰, all day pillars sitting on 辰 or 戌 (the stars Tian Gang and He Kui).
- Strength
- a Kui Gang Day Master usually leans strong; traditionally it does well when strong and dislikes heavy Wealth and Officer stars.
Common misconceptions
- Kui Gang is not good or bad in itself; it depends on where it sits and how it fits with the Five Phases and Ten Gods.
- Symbolic stars are traditional supporting information and cannot decide fortune on their own; read them with the Ten Gods and the Five Phases.
- Schools find some stars differently; FateSign uses the same rules as its calculator, listed in full on the methodology page.
